Sayulita's main beach has soft, rolling waves that are made for first-timers. Most people stand up in their first lesson.

Lessons last about two hours and include the board, a rash guard and time on the sand before you paddle out. Mornings usually have the smallest crowds. Bring reef-safe sunscreen and water.
